Free MLB Picks Thursday June 15, 2023

This article will present 3 betting picks for Thursday June 15 in Major League Baseball.

Yesterday, my official picks, which were unveiled during a live stream, generated a 2-1 record with the only loss being the Yankees in extra innings, so we could have easily gone 3-0. One of the victories came on the Giants who pulled off a nice upset win at +132 odds in St. Louis.

Two of my betting systems recommend betting the Pirates today, but another one favors the Cubs so I’m going to stay away from this game. However, if forced to bet, I would go with Chicago. They are playing much better baseball at home, and I trust Marcus Stroman to do well.

The lone other team that is being backed by any of my 19 betting systems are the Colorado Rockies. They represent the first and only system play for today, but let’s not make you wait any longer: I don’t like this wager and I suggest avoiding it. Kyle Freeland is set to start for the Rockies. He has done a pretty good job this season, but he has fared quite badly in ROAD games with a 1-5 record and a 4.81 ERA.

Freeland will face AJ Smith-Shawver, whom we don’t know what to expect from. I prefer to pass on this potential play!

SYSTEM PICK #1: Over 9 Rockies-Braves (@ +100 odds)

Now, let me tell you about a couple of bets that I have taken this morning. I am officially taking over 9 runs to be scored in the Rockies versus Braves game.

As you can imagine, one of the reasons is the fact that Freeland has struggled mightily on the road this season. Also, Atlanta’s rookie pitcher has not allowed a run in 7 2/3 innings so far this season, but that’s about to change.

Moreover, after going through a rough stretch during which they picked up a 4-7 record, the Braves seem to be back on track, especially their offense. Indeed, during their past 10 matches, Atlanta has put an average of 6.6 runs on the board. Give me the over in this meeting.

Final decision: Official pick

SYSTEM PICK #2: Philadelphia Phillies (@ -123 odds, at Arizona Diamondbacks)

The other official baseball pick I want to share with you is as follows: I am betting the Philadelphia Phillies as small favorites in Arizona. They are not backed by any of my betting strategies, but are simply the result of my own analysis of the game.

Don’t be misled by Aaron Nola’s 4.60 ERA, nor his mediocre 5-5 record. The league average in terms of the WHIP statistic is 1.30, while Nola has posted a 1.10 figure, which shows that he has done a solid job on the mound during the 2023 campaign. He also has a long history of being a great pitcher, so no worries there.

Nola is set to face Ryne Nelson, whose 1.45 WHIP stat is a source of concern. He did shutout the Tigers in his last outing in less than 6 innings, but we are talking about the team that has scored the fewest runs in the Big Leagues this season.

Nelson limited the Phillies to just three hits in six innings on May 23rd, but Philadelphia has had time to study him and I’m sure they will get some payback. On the other side, the DBacks have not faced Nola this season.

Arizona leads the National League West division by three games over the Dodgers. I’ve been feeling like they will go on a losing run at some point in the short term, and after losing their past two games I believe this could be it. I will be taking a close look at how they do because I may very well start fading them on a few occasions in the next week or so.

Final decision: Official pick

SYSTEM PICK #3: Tampa Bay Rays (@ -200 odds, at Oakland A's)

Before you go, would you like another quick bonus gift? Let me share a lean regarding the Rays versus A’s game.

But first, I want to congratulate Robert Zeidman for winning yesterday’s MLB prediction contest! He will bring home a cash prize of $50 US, so Robert please contact me via email at winner@professormj.com to redeem your prize! Robert just edged Ryan Swartz by a single point, so that was a close race to the top!

All right, you have all heard of the surprising Oakland 7-game winning streak. They finally lost a game yesterday by a 6-3 score.

In my opinion, that might have made their recent confidence go away, so I am tempted to take the Tampa Bay Rays. I probably won’t do it, but if you were sitting on the fence on this one this may be a good idea. It’s up to you to make the call, as usual.

Final decision: Lean
